Ty’s warm and forthright honesty has been a beacon of light, an inspiration and an affirmation of hope for over 300K people who subscribe to his YouTube channel where he has documented his FtM transition for the past 7 years. Between YouTube and Instagram (70K followers), there is no subject that Ty will not tackle, and he does so in his forthright intelligent manner with aplomb, grace and a wonderful sense of humour.
A bold, articulate seventeen-year-old transgender advocate from Ladner, BC, Tru first made headlines when she filed a human rights complaint against her local Catholic school board for not supporting her transition. This resulted in the development of the first known policy in any Catholic school in North America that spoke to supporting a child’s transition in school. You may recognize Tru and her family from the BC SOGI123 education curriculum. Whether presenting at TedX East Van, or as ambassador for Out in Schools, Tru continues to share her story to educate and inspire others and show support for members of society who feel excluded… for any reason.
